Have you been signed up to Google AdSense for some time but are not even getting close to the money you expected? Hopefully, after reading this intel you will be able to start making decent money from AdSense.
1. This is probably one of the most important things to consider when making your website or starting it. Of course, I am talking about your NICHE. For beginners, this is your area of field on the internet. This plays a big role in you making a lot of money.
For example, a website about "mortgages" will make considerably more money than a website about "toys". Working out why is simple, what do you think you're most likely to click on? So this is your site niche. Additionally, if you are making a website from scratch you may well want to look in to this. Choosing the right niche could mean the difference of earning say, $10 a day to $50 a day. So this is very important.
2. Okay, once you have chose your niche you want to actually start making your website. While designing your site you MUST CONSIDER "AD PLACEMENT". You can probably understand already why this is important. If you don't display your ad where someone can see them, they simply aren't going to get clicked. Google themselves do provide a diagram of where the best places are to put them on your web page.
It is obvious that ad placements depend on your web template. You can get templates specifically designed for AdSense but this isn't liked by Google so I wouldn't recommend it. But one general rule is to place your ads in the viewport. This means that when your web page loads up, an ad should be in the view WITHOUT scrolling down. So don't put all your ads where people have to scroll to see them.
Those were ad placements, but now it is the actual ad that is important. Again, generally 160 x 600 (wide skyscrappers) do well. As well as, 728 x 90 (leaderboard). These two types are like by most web designers as they are large and easy to manage. They are well worth a try if you aren't using these already.
This is how you can design a website so it does get clicks.
3. The most important thing without a shadow of a doubt is VISITORS. If you don't get visitors, you don't get money. But now you must have a good way to get visitors. SEO (search engine optimization) and general leaving links on other sites is a great easy and free way to get traffic to your site. You must really push to get visitors to your site. Even Google say that you should only try AdSense if you get 100 or more visitors a day. So promote, promote, promote.
Another thing Google really consider when paying you is how many visitors you get but how long they actually stay on your site. Google check the average time of visitors to see if people stay on your site for some time. Obviously, if someone stays on your site for 2 seconds, your website isn't really informative or quality. You should aim to better your quality of text or content so people stay on your site. Visitors who stay longer on your site will mean a higher PPC (pay per click) rate. For example, rubbish (spam) sites will probably get $0.02 a click whereas a quality site with devoted visitors will earn $0.20. So make your content VERY good.
4. (This links back to no. 3) Google loves lots of backlinks to your site. If you get loads of links pointing to your site it means that Google know that people actually like your site. This ultimately means Google will value your site more and will therefore give you a good PR (page rank). Google valuing your site means a lot as you then know that you shall receive a high PPC rate and this results in lots of money.
So I cannot stress enough, promote your site and sort out backlinks or link exchanges as you will see your PPC rate rise.
5. The final point is TIME. This is one thing you cannot control but nevertheless should be in your head. Google respects websites with links, visitors and age. You will definitely notice that as your site gets older, you will earn more money. It may sound confusing but age means stability which means Google know you have been there for some time.
I did say "you cannot control it" but there is one more thing you should keep check of. PERSEVERANCE is too important. If you start a website and have ads on it, then you see that you're making no money, DON'T GIVE UP! Giving up will mean that your domain will expire and any little effort you did of promotion will be wasting. Or, if you sell your domain to someone else, it means they will receive the rewards of your hard work. So PLEASE KEEP TRYING, YOU WILL SEE RESULTS!
Again, linking to the point, time will mean your PPC rate rising. Domain age is what I'm talking about, so keep trying.
