Animal Cruelty Is A Serious Crime
Require animal cruelty as a separate category
Child and animal protection professionals have recognized that there is an inherent link between animal abuse and other forms of social violence. The practice of dogfighting perfectly illustrates this connection, as it is almost always linked to illegal drug and weapons violations, gambling, aggravated assault and gang violence. U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has introduced the Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act of 2007, which would require the FBI to add animal cruelty as a separate category in its National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). Please tell your Senators to make sure animal cruelty is treated as a serious crime! I have been watching Animal Cops on Animal Planet and those animals really do need help and their owners are charged with maybe 72 hrs of community service, we need better laws that will make animal abusers pay. Cruelty in any form is unacceptable in a civilized society, especially when victims are helpless and cannot defend or speak out for themselves. Please don't miss this opportunity to be a positive force in our nation. Animal Cruelty is JUST as serious as child abuse!! Do you not see the connection between the two. You HAVE to do something about this - and it has to be done now. This is not something that can be put on the back burner any longer!! Please StOP animal cruelty. Just like children - animals cannot speak or defend themselves. WE are the only ones who can help and defend them. Please help us! Thank you.
