It was one of the most compelling quotes of The Matrix movie by the Wachowski Brothers. "Human beings are a virus, they find an area and then multiply, until all natural resources in that area are consumed and then they spread to another area."
I believe this is a true statement, human beings are classified as Mammals, but all Mammals instinctively develop an equilibrium with their natural surroundings and co-exist with the florae and faunae in that environment.
We humans do not, and that, I believe, is the main problem in the world we live in.
We build on flood plains and then call it a disaster when the houses flood.
We build near volcanoes and on earthquake fault lines and stupidly expect there not to be an eruption or quake in our lifetime.
And most unbelieveably of all, the wastage of food and energy by the so called developed countries, would pull every third world country out of poverty forever.
So what can we do about it?
The answer is, very little, unless you are able to effect massive change in the way human beings think and act then these facts will never change and the human race will kill itself, once we have starved the earth of all its natural resources.
