Are you eligible for gastric bypass surgery?
In order to qualify for gastric bypass surgery a person needs to meet some basic requirements. The first requirement before all others is money. You will either need cold cash or insurance payments. After that it is all medical. The following is a list of basic medical requirements: 1) You have had failed attempts of weight loss in a medically supervised weight loss program that has been supervised. 2) BMI is greater than 40 without associated co-morbidities. 3) BMI is greater than 35 with on or more of the co=morbidities. 4) The person must be able to display a clear understanding of what is involved with the available surgical options, long and short term risks, complications, and what is required after surgery. 5) Surgery is not recommended for alcoholics, overt psychosis,excessive somatization and major cardiopulmonary disease which would make this surgery dangerous. |
