Asbestos Asbestos is minerals with long fibrous crystals. It was very popular in the building industry due to properties like heat resistance and resistance to chemical damage as well as its strength. The fibers are often woven into mats with fabric. Common uses are: 1. Brake shoes 2. Gaskets 3. In ovens (for heat insulation) Inhalations of asbestos fibers can very hazardous to your health causing Asbestosis and has therefore been banned in many countries.
