The normal path for starting Internet Marketers is to follow every product or idea that comes along. Most of us have been guilty of going from one program to the next without giving any one of them the amount of time and energy needed to actually make them work. Following the herd of other beginners from program to program, or guru to guru, can be a costly cycle. Even some of the more seasoned marketers are guilty of it. There are many “Guru” marketers who say if you just pay them large sums of money they will lead you to success. If you sit back and think about it for a second, you will see that their business model is to get rich by selling you their products. They rarely explain how to get rich. They make fortunes saying “Follow me!” while they make big circles gathering up more and more followers. Very little original or useful information comes from them. A good percentage of legitimate marketers offer quality products and information for the price they charge, but with so many to choose from it is hard for a beginner to know who to trust.
For instance, how many programs can you think of promise huge profits after just a few days or weeks? Or promise thousands of dollars profit for just a few hours work? The numbers are so staggering it sometimes can become depressing just going from one to the other. Look at how alike they all are! Yes, they may have different sales pitches, different products, and different authors, but in reality they all pretty much say the same thing. There are so many of these programs marketing to the “herd” because there are always huge herds to market — the masses are ready to snatch up whatever the Guru’s dish out!
Following the herd of gurus and their followers usually only leads to spending money and disappointment. If the gurus truly had a formula for making quick money they surely would not share it with everyone. Anyone with a true money formula would keep it to him/herself. Common sense will tell you that the more people who know the secret, the more competition they have in their targeted market. This would lower the number of prospects for income.
Instead of following the herd to get old information that usually no longer works, spend some time researching. Free information on marketing can be found in some of the better forums and e-books. Use your money to create your own product and develop your own marketing plan. Find a topic and learn everything you can about it. Then create a product for that topic. This way you have a better chance of success.
The product you come up with can be either your own or someone else’s work. Both can take you where you want to go depending on your business plan and style. You have complete control over every part of the process when using your own product . You have a little less control but don’t have to bother with creating the product yourself when using affiliate products produced by someone else. Either one will work; the important thing is just have a product and sell it.
When you follow the herd you’re not really getting anywhere because you have no control over the direction you’re going. Your path may not be the same as someone else’s and it may not be wise to blindly follow someone else. You need to do some researching on your own first. Just remember that the path of others will pay them but rarely pay you. The problem with herds is unless you’re the leader the scenery never changes, so now is the time for you to break free from the herd and become the leader!
