Believe in Yourself & Achieve .... Anything

We’ve all heard stories in the past about how powerful your mind can be but I think that sometimes it’s all too easy to say ‘Yeah, Yeah’ and continue to struggle and under-achieve.
Everything that you do in life is built on belief – what you have been conditioned to believe! Take the ‘hot coals challenge’ as an example. How can people walk across burning hot coals without getting burnt? Because they told themselves that they wouldn’t! We all know that hot coals will burn because we are told they will – and they do. But put your mind to work and you can make a change to the point that the coals won’t burn.
I’ve just read about a Doctor who observed some very interesting points on some patients with Multiple Personality Disorders. He noted that as the person changed from one character to another, different physical traits became apparent. These were anything from skin lesions that would appear and disappear with differing personalities to even medical conditions such as Diabetes. The mind created these differing conditions and switched them off again with each change.
Another example of how we ‘believe’ we are conditioned is the example of two brothers born to a father who was an evil and nasty piece of work. The father was eventually arrested for assault, rape and murder and imprisoned for life. The two boys went into care and grew up without each other. One turned into a replica of his father – not quite as bad but was continually in and out of prison. The other got married, had a family and held down a good job. He was a great dad and a good person. In a social experiment, these two men were asked why they thought they turned out as they did and unbeknown to each other, they both gave the same answer ‘How could I have turned out any differently with a father like that’.
So, it just goes to show that what you believe will impact how you live your life.
The mind is an amazing commodity – use it to accomplish your dreams and you will.
Another final example was an experiment on a group of 100 students in a drug test. 50 students were given a red pill and told it was a relaxant pill and it should make them feel quite sleepy – so they were not to drive etc. The other 50 were given a blue pill and told that it was a stimulant and that they would feel very energised and lively.
The reality was that they were given a barbiturate and an amphetamine (a relaxant and a stimulant) but it was the opposite way round. So 50 kids who were told they would feel sleepy were actually given a stimulant and the other 50 who were told that they would feel lively were given the relaxant.
Over 50% of these students performed as they were conditioned to believe, not only combating the effect of the drug but actually stimulating the opposite.
So – if you believe in yourself and start to condition your mind that way, then you can be who you want to be and do what you want to do.
