Black Eyed Peas They are the people who brought us such dance club staples as “My Humps”; “Don’t Phunk with My Heart”; and “Let’s Get it Started.” They have collaborated with Justin Timberlake, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Mary J. Blige, and even have their own charity, The Peapod Foundation. To say they are an accomplished group is to step right over “putting it mildly” and head straight for putting it blandly.
Comprised of four members, some with difficult to pronounce monikers, the Peas have toured the world with their fun, dance-friendly style and socially aware content. will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Fergie, and Taboo had their first major success with 2003’s Elephunk. The album reached number fourteen on the Billboard 200 chart in 2005, and boasted multiple top ten singles.
Black Eyed Peas have been nominated for ten Grammy Awards since the release of Elephunk, and have won three. Their 2005 album, Monkey Business, hit number two on the Billboard Top 200 and boasted two of the songs for which the group won Grammys.
In 2006, Fergie released her solo album, which currently features three number one singles and has gone triple platinum. will.i.am has also had success with his solo endeavors, and apl.de.ap and Taboo have announced plans for their own albums, as well. Nonetheless, the Peas have stayed together with no plans to break up or permanently go their own separate ways.
