Janos Baranyai, a Hungarian Weightlifter Suffers Brutal Injury
Here is a video of the Hungarian weight lifter, Janos Baranyai, who broke his arm and possibly injured his back while competing in the olympics.
As you watch the video you can tell when he lifts the weight that it was light enough for him to get it over his head, but too heavy for him to keep it there. His right arm gives way, and the force of the weight snaps his right arm, probably in the elbow region.
This video is quite graphic, so if you have a weak stomach, then I wouldn't recommend watching it. You can also catch a lot of the olympics online at http://www.nbcolympics.com.
I watched as the Chinese covered his body from view. This I thought was very respectful. Now there won't be dozens of shots of him writhing in pain. I'm not certain what happened, but it looked like his right leg didn't catch the proper footing, and it threw his balance off enough to make the tremendous amount of weight too much to hold.
So if your stomach can handle graphic scenes, then check out the video. Janos had to be in excruciating pain, because you could see where it literally just snapped.
Now after reading what NBC had to say about it, apparently he was lifting 148 kg which is 326.3 pounds. They state that his shoulder popped out of its socket. From watching the video, it still look like he broke his arm.
So check out the video, and sure to read what NBC had to say about it, because that wasn't the only weight lifting struggle. A lot of competitors were very dedicated and refused to give up even when the weight was too much. Janos injury was clear evidence of that.
