Buying Fly Fishing Gear and Supplies As one addicted I spend a lot on my habits but fortunately for me my addiction is fly fishing but it's still a costly hobby. I do buy things that last me for years. An few examples would be my fly rod, it's about 20 years old at least so even though it was an expensive purchase it becomes a better investment every year. I also make my fly line last longer than I should be I spend my money on other things like my waders and boots. I go through them a lot faster than I go through fly rods or fly reels. I keep a budget for my fishing stuff which keeps me from sleeping in the dog house so much but I found I was limited to what I could buy. Then I realized I could buy fly fishing gear on eBay at pretty cool prices. Now I buy much more and still stay within budget.
