Carvin Guitars

Over the years, there have been many different guitar manufacturing companies. One company that manufacturers guitars that has been making a name for itself since the late 1940s is Carvin. Carvin guitars are mostly custom made guitars, however, they do offer in stock guitars, as well. In the early days, Carvin also made banjos and mandolins.

Unlike many other brands of guitars, Carvin guitars are not sold in retail store locations. To get a Carvin guitar, you must order it direct from the factory. Carvin boasts of long lasting playability on their guitars. They credit this to high quality wood and a rigorous de-humidification and conditioning process that helps reduce possible stress in the wood preventing it from warping or twisting further down the road. Carvin’s custom guitar building provides plenty of options for a personalized guitar, but they also offer in stock guitars that feature many of their most popular features.

Carvin guitars are available in both electric and acoustic versions, as well as, bass. Because of the randomness of the custom ordering process for a Carvin guitar, it can be difficult to determine what year a specific model was made. Serial numbers are placed on every guitar, but accurate records of serial numbers are not kept. The best way to tell the year a Carvin guitar was manufactured is to look at the individual components used to construct the guitar. Different woods, frets and guitar styles can help determine which year a Carvin guitar was made.

When Carvin guitars first came out, the focus was mainly on steel guitars. Electric guitars were just starting to be widely used during the mid 1950s, so there was a limited demand for them. Carvin guitars could be found in electric models, however. The main focus for the steel Carvin guitar was a lap model. In addition to the early guitars, mandolins and banjos that Carvin offered, they also sold accordions. Carvin was not the manufacturer of the accordions or even all of the guitar models that they offered in the early days, though. Carvin offered guitars made by Martin and Fender is their first catalogs.

Carvin guitars were not actually what made a name for Carvin. Guitar pickups were the product that built a reputation for Carvin. The original catalogs for Carvin guitars contained the wiring schematics for pickups since that is what they were best known for. Currently, Carvin has half a dozen different types of wood for the body and body top of the guitar that a person can choose from when buying a custom Carvin guitar. There are also numerous different colors and patterns that are available.

Over the past 60 years, Carvin guitars have become a staple in quality and longevity instruments. Carvin has narrowed its focus over the years to pinpoint guitars rather than a wide range of instruments. The company is best known for its manufacturing of custom guitars. Carvin offers electric, acoustic and bass guitars, as well as, amplifiers. Their line of products has remained similar to the original designs with few cosmetic changes over the past six decades.
