Carvin guitars are available in both electric and acoustic versions, as well as, bass. Because of the randomness of the custom ordering process for a Carvin guitar, it can be difficult to determine what year a specific model was made. Serial numbers are placed on every guitar, but accurate records of serial numbers are not kept. There are also numerous different colors and patterns that are available.

Over the past 60 years, Carvin guitars have become a staple in quality and longevity instruments. Carvin has narrowed its focus over the years to pinpoint guitars rather than a wide range of instruments. The company is best known for its manufacturing of custom guitars. Carvin offers electric, acoustic and bass guitars, as well as, amplifiers. Their line of products has remained similar to the original designs with few cosmetic changes over the past six decades.
