Charisma and Influence

Charisma and Influence For Leadership In Network Marketing.

Charisma has a lot to do with attraction marketing in that it allows you to influence others in a positive way. Obviously, the ability to influence others is a very important skill to posses as a network marketer.

As a leader, you've got to learn how to sell your ideas as well as your products and services.

First of all, your charisma is based on your values. Your values are the things that you believe in that guide you in your everyday actions and behaviors. Of course, not everyone is going to believe in the same things you do, but your values will attract people with like values to yours.

The first step in using your values is to make a list of what those values are. These values that you'll be defining are related both to your personal life and your work.

When you're sharing your values with others, you'll only be able to influence others if your actions are in alignment with your shared values. When people see how passionately you believe in something both by what you say and what you do, you can accomplish great things.

As a network marketer, if your values don't match your company's values, you won't have success with that company.

Now that you know exactly what your values are, you can begin to build credibility. Credibility is the only way you can influence others.

You know that people want to take advice from those with expertise and you want to be someone who people come to for advice. Not only must you be an expert on the subject you're trying to influence, you must be perceived as an expert as well. In order to do this, you must carry yourself in a way that promotes credibility.

In the book "The Science of Influence," by Kevin Hogan, he uses the following formula for credibility.

Credibility = Expertise + Trustworthiness

You can't really have credibility without both of these pieces of the equation. So, you need to work on both parts of the equation.

You can start with expertise. In order to have credibility, you've got to have knowledge that's not just basic. Be sure to constantly increase your expertise by reading and researching, attending classes and events, and practising your skills all the time.

Once you've honed your expertise, it's time to unveil it to the world. Even if you don't think you're an expert on anything, you probably are. Don't assume that the things you know are common knowledge. Sometimes the way you understand the things that you do get in the way of your sharing them because you assume that it's obvious to everyone. You need to realize that the things you know are valuable to others.

No matter how much you know, you don't know everything. While your expertise is valuable, you must never use arrogance while sharing your expertise. Use your expertise to help others. Always be willing to admit that you don't know everything and be open to learning more.

Another thing to remember when you're an expert is what it's like to be a newbie in your area of expertise. Try not to use shortcuts and jargon when trying to teach others how to do something.

Remember, it is for others, not just to show off to the world how smart you are, that you're sharing your expertise to begin with.

Just try to show them the big picture by showing them step by step how to do whatever it is you're showing them. Don't forget to connect the dots for those who you're trying to lead with your expertise.
