Collecting Football Programmes
Collecting Football Programmes Most people that started out in collecting Football Programmes was when they were children and went off to a football match on Saturday afternoon. Over the years their collection grew and grew. Nowadays a popular way is for collectors is to have a theme, themes can be as simple as a football programme from every football match that they attended, or all their favourite teams home games/away games or both. The themes are endless, but what makes collecting Football programmes fascinating is the history that is contained between the covers and the old adverts are a laugh. As for the history theme a morbid theme is to collect football programmes from matches where there was some sort of disaster(Hillsborough,Ibrox Park,Munich, etc) but its history. The plus side to collecting Football Programmes is the value, some programmes can fetch extraordinary amounts especially at auction, so your hobby can also be seen as an investment. Printing errors like with stamps causes a rarity, even as late as 2003 in the Worthington Cup Final between Liverpool and Manchester United, the majority of the Football programmes had a spelling mistake on the cover (Official was mis-spelt as Offical),so they printed a small number with the correct spelling and it those programmes that are very hard to come by, which in turn pushes up the value. The easiest way to start a collection of football programmes is to purchase a bundle of say 100 and from there you could soon develop a theme.
