Cruises not just for the wealthy

Today’s modern Cruise liners come equipped with a fantastic selection of amenities, and offer superb shopping and entertainment options as well as a huge choice of onboard leisure facilities.

Most people assume that Cruises are only for the very rich, or are a once in a lifetime experience, but they are actually extremely good value for money taking into account the food, onboard activities and entertainment all included in the price.

A wide choice of Cabins are available on most Liners, from luxury staterooms with outside balconies, to interior cabins for those on a lower budget, the choice is huge.

Today’s modern Liners come equipped with stabilisers that keep movement to a minimum and there are lots of over the counter remedies available if seasickness is a worry. As a last resort there is even an injection available from the ships Doctor which will cure any ill affects.

The Caribbean tends to be the most popular Cruise Destination especially in the winter months, followed by the Mediterranean in the summer. Altogether there are a huge number of world-wide destinations and options available if you are planning a Cruise.

You can choose to fly out to your destination and join your ship in the Caribbean or Mediterranean or you can set sail from the initial Embarkation port and spend a few relaxing days at sea. Another option is to spend a week for example in New York followed by a Caribbean Cruise for the second week, there are limitless combinations available.

If you are looking to keep costs to a minimum then avoid booking in the peak season or book when the liner is re-locating from its summer to its winter base.

Booking your Cruise can be done through a traditional high street travel agent or in today’s technological age from a website online.

Online Cruise booking websites offer virtual tours, comprehensive itineraries, deck plans and much more to help plan the ultimate cruise, and you will find all of the major Cruise companies in one place to aid your research.

If you are over 65 the insurance premiums can be quite hefty. In this case the best option is to look for a specialist advisor that caters specifically for the over 65’s and will put you in touch with companies that offer higher age limits and lower premiums.

With such a colossal choice of options available, and the constant improvements being made by the Cruise industry, they are likely to continue to be popular for a long time to come.
