Finding the right dance class isn't that hard but its worth taking a moment to look at what might suit you. Here are some of the options available: Ballroom Dancing - if you love the music of Michael Buble and similar artists this may be the dance for you. It's better to have a partner: particularly as a woman: but not totally essential. Anyone, age size can learn to ballroom dance. To dance ballroom properly you need a lot of space so classes tend to be held in large halls in the suburbs where rent is cheaper.
Salsa Dance Classes
The funky beat of salsa is everywhere these days. Salsa requires hip movement and isolation which a lot of westerners can never manage: but its sure fun trying. Salsa works in small dance floors typical of pubs and clubs and classes are often held in these venues.
Line Dancing Classes
Covers every type of music from boot scooting hill billy to samba to waltz. If there is a beat there is a line dance choreographed to it somewhere in the world! Dance classes again need a bit of space but often occur in clubs. The huge advantage of course is that you don't need a partner to join in have fun and get fit.
Belly Dancing Classes
Belly dance classes are a great way to develop your abs - but are traditionally ladies only: men don't dance this form though I am sure there is a man's belly dance class somewhere. The traditional belly dance music has developed from its Turkish and Egyptian roots to be adapted to modern techno and funk tracks very effectively
Poll Dancing
Another dance form for the ladies: yes for the ladies. While exciting a bit of controversy poll dancing is trying to drop its X-rating and is now taught in suburban gyms to mums and wives wear leotards rather than nothing at all.
New Vogue Dance Lessons
New Vogue is a form of sequence dance - based on English Old Tyme dance: but using ballroom technique. Couples dance together but follow a set sequence of steps - this makes it easier for the beginner to pick up as the man doesn't have to worry about angles and floorcraft as he does in Ballroom or Standard dances such as the waltz and quickstep
