Destination Searsport Maine

Searsport Maine

For tourists Searsport is a must see. There are dozens of little antique shops all along the main road, which is rte 1. There are three flea markets with lots of cute little gift items and some little known treasures. There are also many little shops along the main road that you will find nowhere else.

Beyond that Searsport is the home of Moose Point State Park. Moose Point State Park sits right on the ocean and has lots of beutiful little picnic areas and a great beach to just walk along and enjoy the day. There is a playground for the kids as well.

Mosmon Park is just off the main road in the middle of town. There is a large playground for the kids and several picnic tables for the family. Mosmon Park also sits right on the ocean and hours of fun can be had just discovering the treasures of the ocean or watching the tide come in.

Searsport also has a wonderful Marine Museum. The office is on main street but the museum itself encompasses several buildings. It is great fun just to walk through and see all they have to offer. It can also be quite educational for anyone with interest in the history of this area.

There are a couple of decent hotels in Searsport but also in nearby Belfast and Stockton Springs. There are several little campgrounds along rte 1 as well and they are all right along the ocean.

If you are considering visiting Maine, Searsport should definately be on your list of must sees.
