Do It Yourself Painting Tip #1 Many people do not realize this, but the brand of paint and primers really matter when it comes to quality and durability. Many people will grab a cheap primer for a project, and use an expensive good quality paint over it. Then there are those that will do the opposite and use an expensive primer since it is the foundation, but use a cheap low quality paint. The most important thing to remember here is to match both primer and paint by brand name. Do not purchase and use one brand of primer, and use another brand of paint. Different manufacturers have different processing formulas they use. The processing formula of one manufacturer does not always go well with the processing formula of another manufacturer's product. For example, if you use Krylon primer, use Krylon paint, or if you use ColorPlace primer, use ColorPlace paint for your do it yourself projects. The resulting quality and durability will be much better and wil save you time and money in the long run.
