Experiencing Greece - travel information

I personally think in order to enjoy your vacation, whether in Greece or anywhere for that matter, one should travel with an open mind.

The beauty of a certain place serves only as scenic background, like a beautiful painted canvas does, which is only part of the pleasure. Absorbing the cultural and social ways completes the pleasure and enjoyment of your vacation.

Vacationing in Greece for instance, the obvious journey will take you to archaelogical sites and ruins and to the beautiful Mediterranean landscapes and island beaches. I strongly recommend to get off the beaten path and visit the nearest village of your stay, which will probably be about a half hour away at the most. There you will find authenticity of true Greek hospitality by locals and taverns with always prepared home cooked meals and most of the time everything is prepared fresh. Keep in mind that most of the village taverns use fresh produce from their own gardens and from local farmers. Believe me, that is one experience of Greece you will never forget... eating at an authentic village tavern... oh! and dont forget to escort your meal with their own homemade wine! Now that's a priceless vacation!
