Extreme Snowboarding locations

Extreme snowboarding locations

Snowboarding doesn’t actually have to be extreme, there are a great number of many of people that enjoy ‘sensible’ snowboarding! Of course not everyone is satisfied with sensible snowboarding and they require something more to float their boat.

Extreme snowboarding is a more risky form of snowboarding which takes place over very rough terrain. Extreme snowboarders normally have to encounter cliffs, deep snow and various other obstacles which can make it difficult to pass.

Such difficult snowboarding courses are only possible for people who are advanced and have fully mastered all of the skills. This isn’t a suitable activity for just any old lunatic I’ll have you know.

Snowboarding is sometimes seen as quite a posh activity however you can forget all of that with extreme snowboarding. You won’t find any lifts, patrols or even toilets at many of these popular snowboarding courses. Some people seem to like this uncertainty and lack of public conveniences and believe it adds a sense of thrill.

These intense snowboarding courses are normally located on a slope that is at least 45 degrees, on these courses there are many more obstacles that the snowboarder has to battle against.

It is vital that you have lots of experience before you consider trying one of the many extreme snowboarding locations, such as the Suisse which contains a mind numbingly steep 1600m drop!

Attempting such courses without any experience is absolutely crazy, it’s comparable with me doing an operation on your forearm without even looking at a medical textbook let alone me not actually being a doctor. If you don’t get my point it’s vital that you get yourself some experience!

If you do have a lot of snowboarding experience and want to start competing then you should defiantly look at the competition in Alaska. This is the World championships for extreme snowboarding. There is also another competition known as “King of the hill”, a rather catchy title I’m sure you’ll agree! This allows competitors to compete for cash prizes.

The Marmot Extreme Snowboarding competition is held each year in New Zealand. This is one of the most difficult courses in New Zealand and is a very challenging course.

If you are considering taking up extreme snowboarding then you should look into the special safety equipment. It’s also vital that you have enough experience so you can judge the conditions safely.
