Fed-Up Truckers In Motorway Fuel Protest Hundreds of disgruntled lorry drivers and other motorists have staged go-slow protests against rising fuel prices. Up to 80 lorries, vans, cars, motorbikes and a caravan, set off at 9am from Lymm Services at Warrington, Cheshire. They travelled along the M6 to Carnforth, 60 miles north in Lancashire, where they turned round and returned home. Tony Burridge, who organised the protest, said he believed the demonstration was the biggest go-slow fuel protest on the M6 since the first fuel demonstrations in 2000. Mr Burridge, 50, a logistics manager from Preston, said: "We are hoping the strength of feeling shown during today's go-slow will persuade the Government to reduce fuel duty. "I am confident that if enough people take a stand the Government will realise that the rising cost of fuel is intolerable for ordinary working people and their families."
