Great Scott - Kiwi Scott Dixon wins Indy 500...

Great Scott! Kiwi Scott Dixon has won the Indy 500 car race at the "brickyard" in Indianappolis in the US an hour or two ago New Zealand time. He was only the third ever New Zealand driver to participate in the premier car-racing event, and only the first Kiwi to win it. He also pockets a cool $3 million for winning the event. Not bad for a few hours work.

It was the greatest driving success by a Kiwi since Denny Hulme won the World formula One title forty odd years ago.

Dixon drew the pole position after being the fastest qualifier. He was never further back than fourth during the whole race; dropping back to second a couple times at pitstops, but once he hit the lead for the last time he never relinquished it until the chequered flag and victory!
