Helpful little tip for someone starting out in SEO
If you are starting out in the world of Search Engine Optimization and/or Web Marketing then one of the first things you should do is take a look at the SEOTOOL plugin for the internet browser Firefox. The SEOTOOL plugin for Firefox when installed and activated allows you to get additional results about the keywords you enter into google. For example, say you are creating a website that has Dog Training as it's primary keywords - if you where to use these keywords on Google using Internet Explorer or with Firefox without the SEOTOOL installed or activated all you will see is the standard results page. Now if you run the same results in your Firefox browser with the SEOTOOL plugin activated, your google results will be clearly expanded. All of the results will indicate a lot of information that make you understand better why the results are being placed as they are. The extended information that the results indicate show you the following: 1) The results Google PageRank 2) The age the site was first indexed at Archive.org 3) Yahoo! linkdomain results 4) How many .edu links according to yahoo are pointing to the domain 5) How many .edu pages link to the specific pages on the domain according to yahoo 6) How many .gov links according to yahoo are pointing to the domain 7) How many time the url has been bookmarked by del.icio.us 8) How many links from blogs according to Technorati 9) The Alexa rank based on website traffic 10 The about of google cached pages of the site 11) How many pages on Dmoz reference that Url 12) Shows how many people are subscribe to a particular blog according to Bloglines 13) Indicates if the site is listed in the Yahoo! Directory or not. 14) Gives you a link direct to WhoIs to get more information about the domain All of this information is important for you when starting any type of SEO campaign - you must know what your competition is doing and how well they are performing. You can get the plugin at: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html You MUST be using the firefox or netscape browser in order to install the plugin. Hope this helps! |
