home chest workout

The benefits of having a big, strong chest.

Well aside form making those t-shirts fit better and stirring up some attention on the beach a strong chest and generally fit upper body will help you in many ways.
1. Increased confidence, a fit body is a happy body and the chest is a large muscle that the eye is naturally drawn to.
2. Increased Strength for plying with the children, gardening or taking part in sports.

The list goes on and on...
Here is a simple program to be completed at home x2/week that will help shape and strengthen your chest;

Press-up.
Laying in a plank like position on the floor bring yourself onto your toes and place your hands approximately 6inches wider than your shoulder width. Keeping your body rigid press your upper body off the floor until you are just short of full arm extension. Exhale through this stage. Lower yourself to within 1inch of the floor whilst breathing in and repeat as many times as possible whilst maintaining strict form.

When completed rest for exactly 3minutes.
Repeat until 3 set of the exercise are complete.

Fly.
Take a tin of beans in each hand and lie on your back with the soles of your feet on the floor. With your arms out at your sides (in line with your shoulder) begin to lift the tins together maintaining a bend in the arms. The motion is best thought of as a "big hug". As you perform this "hug" concentrate on he muscles you feel working within your chest. Again repeat until failure for 3 sets.

This simple pair of exercises is perfect for someone who has not trained for a while and does not require a high level of fitness.

If you are new to exercise then please check with a medical professional before embarking upon any new form of exercise.

Also note that unless your diet is also good the exercise wont make much of a difference.

HOPE THIS IS AN EASY START FOR SOME OF YOU.
