Home Remedies for a Sore Throat
There are just times when a sore throat seems to creep into your life and make it more miserable then ever. Usually the burning and aching comes at a time when there is a million and one things to do and life is at its most stressful. Getting rid of the sore throat and easing the pain is something that you want to do quickly. The first step is to ease some of the pain. This is often done with hot liquids including broth, chicken soup, peppermint tea, or other sorts of teas. There are additional options as well including sucking on candies, cough drops, and throat throat drops. One last thing that makes for a great way to ease a sore throat is to take one tablespoon of lime juice and one tablespoon of honey and mix them together. Slowly and gently swallow it and it will help to ease the pain of the sore throat. The second step is to get rid of the cause of the sore throat. Sometimes this is dryness, irritation, and even infection can cause it. There are several things that can be done to get rid of the sore throat. The best of which is gargling. There are a lot of options for what you choose to gargle to get rid of your sore throat and they include salt water, raspberry tea, cayenne pepper in warm water, and peroxide water. Most of these things don't taste all that well (thought the cayenne pepper water isn't as bad as you imagine), but they will relieve swelling, kill infections, and relieve pain. A steam tent can also be used to help get rid of a sore throat. Boil a pan of water and then place it on the table. Drape a large towel over the steaming pan of water and your head. Breathe deeply and the steam can help ease the sore throat. Often it is necessary to use a variety of techniques to find out what works best for you and what you like best. If the sore throat comes with a bunch of other symptoms, is extremely painful (strep throat is very painful), or you can see white spots in the back of your throat you may be dealing with a bad infection and should go to the doctor to get advice on how to take care of it. However, for your everyday normal sore throat it is easy to get rid of and home remedies are a great option for easing the pain and getting you back to your normal self. |
