Household Tips – All Those Little Jobs in a More Natural Way

Oven Cleaner:
Spray water on the bottom of the oven and sprinkle with baking soda in an even layer. Spray again with water and allow to sit overnight. It should wash right off in the morning.

Mildew Treatment:
Use a strong thyme tea to wash down the area. Steep 1 qt. of thyme in 1 gal. of water for 24-48 hr.. and use it to scrub down the area.

Room Freshener:
While you vacuum you can freshen the air if you soak a cotton ball with your favorite scented oil. I love rosemary or lavender.

Air Freshener:
After breakfast drop the grapefruit rinds in a pot and cover with water and simmer for 45 min. to 1 hr. Lemons or oranges work too.

Room Freshener:
Heat from you light bulbs will make the fragrance fill the air if you put a few drops of your favorite scented oil on them.

Room Freshener:
When you damp mop your hardwood floors add a few drops of your favorite oil to the water to fill the room with fragrance. In the kitchen why not add some spices, such as cinnamon or nutmeg. The sweet smell of vanilla may keep extra hands long enough to help with dishes.

Wall Paper Cleaner:
White bread will wipe away and absorb dirt and Stains.

Floor Wax:
Try melting 4 T. of paraffin wax, and add to 2 qt.. of mineral oil, cool, add your favorite scent and store in a glass bottle or jar. After waxing allow to dry 1/2 hr. and buff.

Wood Furniture Polish:
1 T. of lemon oil, 1 qt. of mineral oil. mix well and store in a spray bottle. Rub in and wipe off.
To Help You Dust:
Mix 1t. of olive oil and 1/2 c. of lemon juice. Dip your dust cloth into the mixture and wring out. Dust your furniture and save the cloth for next time in a zip lock bag.

Bleach For The Laundry:
Add 1/4 c. of vinegar to your wash to remove odor and dirt.

Grease Remover For The Laundry:
Add 1 can of cola to your wash when you need to get really greasy clothes clean.

Silverfish:
Costmary sprigs around the house will help rid your house of silverfish.

Moth Repellent:
Hang bunches of dried sage in your closet to keep the moths away.
