Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia, also known as low blood sugar, occurs when the blood sugar drops 60 mg/dl. When your blood glucose (blood sugar)drops too low to provide your body energy. Glucose is the main source of the fuel for the body.

Some of the common symptoms are:
shakiness
dizziness
sweating
hunger
headache
irritability
pale skin color
sudden moodiness or behavior changes
clumsy or jerky movements
difficulty paying attention or confusion
tingling sensations around the mouth

Always let your physician know if you are experiencing these symptoms. There may also be another condition or medical problem.

For people with diabetes, the goal of treatment is to maintain a their normal range blood sugar level. This involves testing blood sugar often, learning to recognize the oncoming symptoms, and treating the condition quickly.

To treat low blood sugar immediately, you should eat or drink something that has sugar in it, such as orange juice, a hard candy or milk.
