Making money online is a huge daunting task! Its not an impossible task but it is a difficult one. A lot of beginners get sucked into the many "get rich fast" schemes which are all over the internet - feeding on newbies desperation or greed. Is An Online Business for You?
Lets get specific: I am not talking about working online using skills you might have as a freelancer: writer, programmer whatever. I am talking about developing a portfolio of profitable websites, blogs, information products and other online assets.
Eventually such a portfolio will create you ongoing income dis-proportionate to the time invested to maintain it. Initially however, just like any business you will need to devote time and energy developing your business without a regular pay check.
Check List for Succeeding Online
Do you have the basic skills: most important skills are marketing and business ability, but it will be easier if you also have basic writing and technical skills: though if you lack these you can develop them easily enough
Do you have the time to develop your online business. It might take up to 6 months full-time to start earning an income: how many hours do you to devote to your new venture?
Closely related question do you have the money to develop your business: if you are going full-time have you got savings to see you through the first year? The great thing about an online business is that the cost of entry is low - you can get started for free with a blog and start earning money, and even with buying the most important tools, hosting and domain names you can comfortably invest less than $1,000. So long as you can cover your living expenses from elsewhere getting started is very low-risk
Your Attitude is Key
Many of us have been raised on the belief that a good job was the key to security. Unfortunately this is less and less true as jobs for life disappear and the economy gets worse by the day.
However the skills that make you a good employee aren't the same ones that make you a good entrepreneur: and make no mistake making a business online is an entrepreneurial activity. If you enjoy routine and certainty in your life then maybe an online business is not for you. However if you are easily bored with routine and you thrive on change and risk - it may be made for you!
