After watching a special on PBS lat night about Jimi Hendrix I reflect those younger days and I am still in awe of his short lived musical career. One has to admire the genius of this man, this guitar god. I still see his fingers running up and down the guitar like he was caressing a woman.
Soft spoken Jimi, handsome Jimi, funny Jimi he is mourned and a loss to our young.
When you watch the man you see incredible knowledge and experimentation of the guitar. His teeth twanging the notes and a quick lift and the guitar is on his back and he is still plucking away.
The guitar is his soul, his woman and treats her with the utmost respect. His thumb makes motion and he is but the one and the only.
He knows every inch, every capability, every moan and every vibration of the beauty he emits. He is but one this guitar and Jimi.
The artistry of this man far exceed all known talent of his time.
The cultural revolution in the 1960's created realities that were not previous acceptable behaviors. From fashion, cival rights, movies and perhaps most noticabley music.
The fact that Jimi Hendrix was a black man meant nothing to what he accomplished. His music and message was magical and that magic cut through bigotry and it's social political agenda's of the day.
There may never be another Hendrix but keep your eyes open for others who's magic is as real.
If anyone hasn't heard a Jimi Hendrix song or video, do so.
"Axis Bold as Love", an album title of his is alone an incredibly valuable idea.
The song "The Wind Cries Mary" is soooo beautiful...... The guitar......The words..... WOW!....
It's magical! don't miss it.
