These types of eBooks have their place in the market, but for our eBook site it would take away from the original concept of helping new authors get published.
However, since there seems to be a lot of people who need help marketing these types of eBooks here is my guide to making money with your work (they don't call me the eBook Guru for nothing). At times over the past couple years I have done some writing for people who market these types of books. Some of them make huge money; the last gentleman I wrote sales copy for was making $15,000 every two weeks selling three eBooks. He didn't get to that point by not learning what to do, and how to do it!
For the purpose of this guide I will assume that you have a well written, fully edited, eBook (that is worth what you're going to ask for it).
With that out of the way, let's get started:
Step 1 - Learn what your doing, and how it works.
Before you even attempt to build a website, and market your book, a certain level of knowledge is required. The best way to sell any type of information eBook (especially if it deals with, business, or web marketing) is through affilliate marketing. If you don't know the concepts behind this type of selling you won't get very far with your efforts. I'm not going to write a book, so here are the two books I recommend to get you started.
The simple truth is that marketing anything on the web is difficult. If you don't understand what you are doing you won't get far.
Blogging To The Bank - by Rob Benwell : This book will actually teach you more about how to become an affiliate marketer than a publisher, but it goes into some of the concepts surrounding what you are trying to do. It also includes some extras that will help you when we get to our next steps. Mostly this is the book that will teach you about how to make money with clickbank.
Web 2.0 Traffic Stampede by Chris Freville : The next book you should invest in is Web 2.0 Traffic Stampede. This book will teach you some excellent concepts to promote products for free. You should read this book before you design your website the web 2.0 concepts by themselves are worth the money. One of the most difficult things to do when it comes to online marketing is getting traffic in the first place - this book WILL help you do that without spending a dime on advertising. The book also comes with some extras: a market analysis of the topselling clickbank products, and a guide to writing sales copy.
There are actually more books I could recommend here, but I don't want to cost you thousands. By now you have an idea of what your trying to accomplish so we will move on.
Step 2 - Build A Website and Sign Up as a Clickbank Publisher
The next thing you need to do is set up a website. Most people who market these types of eBooks use a sales copy page (also known as copy writing) as their main site. If you want an idea of what a sales copy page looks like - click either of the links to the eBooks above.
This step is actually the most difficult to do yourself. Even if you have web design experience, writing effective sales copy is more of an art form than any other type of writing. If you aren't an experienced writer - you can read all the guides you want and still fail with this step.
For this reason I am not going to recommend any products for this step. Most likely I would just make you waste your money. If you do have a talent for writing, ask me, and I will direct you to some books that can help with effective sales copy.
You can always ask me to design and write your sales copy page for you (I have written lots of them). However before you do, you should know that I won't write sales pages for gimmicky products (I don't like enticing people to buy junk). You should also know that I generally charge $500 - $1000, sometimes more, for writing and designing an effective sales copy page.
Once you have a website - sign up as a Click Bank publisher. It takes about a week to get an ebook and sales page approved.
Step 3 - Learn How to Get Others to Market Your Product
You could actually put this step back by the first one if you wanted too. It really is another learning step. However since one of the products I am listing here is software to help you with your site, I decided to put it at step three. Now that your ready to market you eBook through clickbank you need to take advantage of affiliates to really promote your product.
Unless you have a huge mailing list or a website with thousands of daily visits you are going to need some help with this step. Here are two products I recommend.
Affiliate Explosion - "100 Guaranteed Methods For Creating A Massive Affiliate Sales Force To Advertise Your Products For Free": This one is by Peter Koning and is your first step in getting affiliates to work for you. Using the ideas in this book is the best way to get started.
Viral Mini Sites (software) : This one isn't an eBook at all, rather it is software to help you. It follows the ideas surrounding viral marketing and can be one of your most effective tools getting affiliates to work for you. I have reviewed the software on my other blog if you want to learn more about viral marketing.
