Saturday was the start of Victoria Day Weekend or jokingly known as May Two Four. It actually celebrates The Queen's Birthday going away back to Queen Victoria, but we Canadians start the Summer Season with this celebration. It is always the weekend before May 24th and usually it is cool and rainy. This year is no exception. Next weekend is supposed to be great.
I started out at 7.30 with coffee at local coffee shop. This is a small town so there is no "Timmy's" the Canadian favorite. We do have Country Coffee which is also a great place and the donuts are twice as big. Across the road was a giant yard sale so I had to check it out. Even in the gusty wind and slight rain the workers were keen to sell items for money to put on Bayfest. That is our Labour Day gala. I almost froze but bought a nice blue vase.
At the next one I got a couple of little cat toys for Sally my calico cat. She only has five basketsfull now, but she loves to get a new one.
I thought there was a plant sale but found out it was next week so look forward to that. My daughter wants to come too.
If I had driven out onto Long Point there would have been all kinds of yard sales as the cottagers tidy up for the season. I just wasn't that keen on being out in the cold.
The rain and clouds were fierce so I checked out downtown and then headed home. Saw lots of new faces as the holiday people came shopping for their entertainment. They love to get a cone or an ice cream sundae.
Spent the rest of the day inside on computer.
It is Sunday morning and it is windy, rainy, and cool again.
I did have a nice surprise when a Cardinal landed right by my computer window. Sally the cat saw him too and it gave her a morning thrill.
Well, I am going to brave the weather and head off to church.
