Miscarriage Defined Vs. Stillbirth
In layperson's terms: Miscarriage, or spontanious abortion, is defined as losing a baby prior to reaching 20 weeks of pregnancy. Losing a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy is defined as a stillbirth. Either way, the tragic loss of a baby during pregnancy affects over one million women per year in the United States alone, and often leads to depression, self blame, and feelings of failure. |
