MultiTasking - A Huge Waste of Time

MultiTasking - A Huge Waste of Time

Multitasking is a term that has been used since as early as the 1950's and is defined as "the performance by an individual of more than one task at the same time" by Wikipedia. It has been used by multitaskers as an exuse to do multiple things at one time.

Studies have found that when people are multitasking they do not focus on any one task for any amount of time and eventually have to back track to find out where they had left off. Therefore usually taking a longer time to accomplish a task and usually with poorer results.

So, how can multitaskers rebound and prevail? Easy. They need to focus on one task at a time. Writing down your tasks the night before allows you to start your list first thing in the morning.

When you start your tasks avoid turning the TV on, answering phone calls and checking email. These are all distractions that will elongate the time you have to spend on your task.

So, to avoid wasting a huge amount of time in your life, erase multitasking from your vocabulary and just focus on the tasks at hand.
