My First PC

In my mind's eye I could just see the look on my supervisors face when I told him I would not be coming in to work anymore. Oh! Yes this was going to be the end of all that...or so I thought.

OK it's all connected and it's ready to go. Now what do I do?
I need an Internet provider. With that done I am set to make all that promised money I have been hearing about. So now all I need is something to sell or I can just join some of those great paying programs that will pay me to sell their stuff. I do a search for "Making money on-line". There are thousands of these websites. All I have to do is pick one I like and I'm all set.

Hey, look that one must be good they are making millions, that's what it says right there on their website. And they are going to give me a website and everything I need for a small membership fee and a monthly fee that will be taken out of my earnings. WOW! It says I can make 4k a month. Can it get any easier than that?

3 months later...I am still working at my old job and still looking for that dream on the internet. I have even found more websites to join that promise me that if I follow their directions I will be rich in a few months. So I join them too. Why not they aren't even charging a membership fee, just a fee to upgrade now or later. They say I will earn more and faster if I upgrade now, so I did.

6 months later...Yeah, you guessed it, I am still working at my old job and I have spent a lot of money trying to make money with the programs that promised me I would be making money if I would upgrade to a higher level. I am spending more and more time on the computer and not even making enough to cover the cost of the advertising. Again they are telling me where to do that to get the most sales. They say it worked for them so why shouldn't it work for me.

9 months later...I have dropped out of the program that charged a monthly fee and have joined some others that do not have a monthly fee. One wants me to pay for a website
and get a domain name. If I'm going to do that I may as well sell my own product. So I go searching for something I can sell on my own.

12 months later...
I now have my own website, domain name and all the workings
of a good website. I even built my own "Mortgage Reduction"
website. Yeah, I learned how to build a website using HTML. It explains why everyone, who owns a home or business property, should read this book on how to reduce their mortgage and save themselves thousands of dollars.
My dream is going to come true at last.

16 months later...
In the last 4 months I had only 19 visitors to this website and made 1 sale. What is wrong, why aren't people coming to see what a great book this is? Don't they want to save thousands of dollars? What happened, I was told "if you build it they will come" So where are all those paying customers?

24 months later...
Now I'm told It's all about advertising. They wont come to any website if they don't know where to come. So there goes more money to pay for advertising. Oh well, what's another hundred, I can earn it back in a few weeks. I can't even think of quitting my job yet, without my job I couldn't pay for all this. But just you wait I'll be in the money soon. I just purchased an e-book that will teach me everything I need to know.

36 months later...
I shut down the website because the information I was selling was being given away by a competitor and went back to being an affiliate for Cory Rudl. He didn't promise me I would get rich selling his information. He was a good
mentor. I learned how to advertise for free, how to use forums and so much more from him. He was a very rich and successful entrepreneur.Even though he is no longer with us I will always remember him. He died in a crash, riding with a friend in a race car.

Years later...
No, I haven't gotten rich selling other peoples information nor do I expect to. I am satisfied with the few dollars I do make on the 'net. I realize now that making lots of money on the internet is everyones dream but only a few ever succeed in doing so.

Don't get me wrong now, I will not say it can't be done. It does take a lot of work and time to make it a success so it isn't much different from having a job. To make money you have to work for it so whether you do the job at home or at a workplace it's still work.

But I will never give up, I will always be looking for that dream job. I know it's out there somewhere. In the mean time I will read the e-books I purchased, Advertise the products of other people and hope to become a little smarter about the internet and how it works.

Who knows , I may find it sometime tomorrow or the next.
