My opinion on capital punishment...
My opinion on capital punishment... I thought I would give my opinion on capital punishment. We have not had CP in New Zealand since the mid-1960's, and have only ever executed one woman. In my opinion if one innocent person is executed it is one too many! We have had a few controversies over the years, and there is to be a retrial for David Bain who served nearly a decade for murdering his parents and siblings - however I still believe Bain to be guilty, but he will be retried in a few months. A couple of decades ago Alan Arthur Thomas was pardoned by Prime Minister Robert Muldoon for the murder of a local couple named Crewe(the Crewe Murders)after serving a decade also. His pardon came about when a book was written about the murders and contained new information and facts about the double murder, which was not available at the Thomas trial and appeals. There is no doubt in my mind that the slighty backward Thomas would have been executed if capital punishment was still available in New Zealand.
