New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair
For one long weekend in June each year, the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair takes place at the New Mexico Expo fairgrounds. Artists and crafts people from all over this magnificent state come together to display their beautiful and unique creations. There are paintings, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, fiber arts, glasswork, ceramics and more! Not to mention, all the great food and music! I had the opportunity to participate in this show a few years ago. It is a juried show so I was very excited to be accepted. I am a painter and spent many months preparing for the show. It was a wonderful experience - sketching, painting, framing and planning my booth setup. Setting up was a lot of work, but when it all came together, it was sort of magical. Thursday night was preview night and guests to the show were by invitation only. The fair continued through Sunday. It was very exciting because I sold my largest painting on that Friday and a few smaller ones after that. I was pretty happy with the outcome. So, if you are ever in Albuquerque around June, do not miss out on this unique multi-cultural experience! Who knows, maybe I'll see you there! |
