Most people who first start a website up for business or for pleasure are completely baffled by the term HTML Code.
I was at first when I setup my first website.
You click on your URL to see your home page for the first time and there it is in all it's glory, A feature rich page of information. *Colorful Banners
*Pop ups
*Link Buttons
*Contents
You take this all for granted at first you just don't realize how much work and programming has been put into your website even if you have had a out of the box template style website someone had to program the website template to start off with.
It's only when you start to explore your site and try to add fresh content that you have to come to terms with HTML Code all the information on your website is in cased in HTML Code and when you see this coding for the first time it just looks like a total amount of jargon .
When you start to work with your new website and would like to upgrade the contents on your website you need to get familiar with your website web panel this is the backbone behind your website and this is were all your files are stored.
You can upgrade your products optimize your website and change the general look of your site, Before you touch anything in the web panel you need to create a backup file just in case you make a mistake and believe me you will at first just as I did the first time round.
Once I was confident to make change's to my new website I set about accessing my web panel and opened up the file named index html this is were the main HTML Code is for your website I did a little bit of research on adding HTML Code I wanted to add a affiliate banner to my online website which I run on the internet I opened up a new tab in my web browser and typed in my website URL to see my home page I picked a spot were I thought the banner would look best and click back on to the web panel tab I scrolled down the page of the coding to a point that looked familiar on my home page I clicked the edit tab to add the banner code which I had cut and pasted I then saved the file and felt very chuffed I had just completed my first piece of programming,
I click on my web page tab and refreshed the page to my horror my web page was totally messed up I decided to go back into my web panel and right my wrongs which just made things worse and to sum things up I did not make a back up copy.
I decided to contact my support desk that was supplied to me free with my website setup with my tail between my legs I told them what I was trying to do and they were only to happy to help rectify my website and offered to add the affiliate banner for a small fee which I was very quick to except, I had deleted a part of the HTML Code when I tried to add the affiliate banner that was what caused the problem.
The support team also offered me advise on future projects and that there was a hole host of books and courses available on HTML Coding for beginners and that they also had a full list of upgrades they could perform for me for a small fee which was very handy to no.
You can see way web programmers are paid well for there hard work.
My advise for anyone thinking of editing there website for the first time is get to no your help and support team as they can offer you a hole host of support and tips as mentioned above.
You should think about taking them up with any upgrading you are thinking about making at first until you are confident about changing your website yourself. You will save a lot of time and money in the long run freeing up you spare time to research HTML Coding and programming yourself.
There are many great books out there and reasonable online courses that take you through step by step On what HTML Codes are and how to add them to your website to make changes, Also internet forums are a great sauce of information.
Most of the books have CD ROMS included.
The book and CD ROM I first used had a dummy website on which meant that I could play around with it and if I made a mistake it nether caused any damage to my own website it was quiet fun messing around with it.
Once you get to grips with the whole process you will be able to add new content to your website frequently which will be great if you use your website for business purposes as search engines love fresh content.
You can even use HTML Code to bring life into your descriptions on auction sites making them more appealing to prospective customers even adding HTML Code to your signatures in your emails can generate great response and is totally free advertising..
