Oahu's best beaches
Oahu has some of the best beaches to be found in the Pacific. The best beach in my opinion is Lanikai Beach. Lanikai has a powdery white sand and beautiful blue water. It is quite a drive from Waikiki, but there are very few tourists. The second best beach is right next to Lanikai and is called Kailua Beach. This beach has picnic areas, and plenty of shade. The water at both beaches is fantastic. If you like to snorkel, I suggest you go to world famous Hanauma Bay. It gets quite crowded, but you will be assured of seeing a large number of different types of fish. If you are lucky, you will see sea turtles and the resident seals. All the beaches on Oahu are great, but I feel the two mentioned above are among the worlds best. If you want to stay close to Waikiki, try Ala Moana Beach Park. This is a really nice beach with picnic areas and lots of shade. There is a half moon shaped protected area with no waves and pretty shallow for children to play in. There is also an area with waves for surfing and body boarding. This is a really good choice when stayin in Waikiki. |
