On the Road Again... Driving from Hammond, Lousiana to Baton Rouge recently I was struck by an uncommon site. Walking beside the road was a tall clean heavily set white man with dark skin and short cropped blond hair pulling a small cart filled to the brim with bedding. He had a scruffy dog strapped to the cart slowly walking alongside of it. Sticking way up in the air was a huge white cross at least 7 or 8 feet tall. I pulled to the into a parking lot to see if he was a member of a movement or crusade of some kind however I was too afraid to approach him and only watched from afar. I turned my car back toward Hammond to finish some business and on my way back through Albany the man had progressed several more miles on foot and was visiting with merchants at the end of the day. Watching this stranger display this huge cross so publicly made me think about many things namely the crosses each of us bear in our daily lives. It was a very unexpected sight.
