PLR and Resell Dangers

While you may think you've hit the jackpot when you got an awesome deal on a great resell business in a box package... beware!

I am not discounting the great deal or the use of PLR (Private Label Rights) or resell products. I am merely stating that there are dangers involved in using these types of products in your marketing business.

I have spent, literally, 7,665 hours in the last 1.5 years on the Internet - researching the field of marketing online.

Many people begin their online marketing by purchasing these "business in a box" products that promise to get them up and running in zero time... (ok, slight exaggeration); nevertheless, even if the new entrepreneur actually takes action and sets up their "business in a box", rarely does this type of deal ever work.

Today, I would like to offer some quick tips for you if you happen to be a fresh new face in the Internet marketing profession.

Critical Points and Simple Solutions:

1.
If you want your site / content to be listed in the search engines AND you want to earn a degree of authority in the topic or niche you are marketing, you must refrain from using duplicate content of any nature.

Solution 1: Yes. Using PLR (Private Label Rights) is a good idea and a time-saver, but... take the time to write the article in your own words with your own style. Mix things up a bit. Add your own additional experience and expertise into the content.
Solution 2: Do a search on the Internet for duplicate content. There are tools out there you can tap into that will help you perform this search. A simple query in Google with the search term "duplicate content checker" should get you plenty of options.
Solution 3: If you have money when you first start out on the Internet, which many of us do not, you can hire a writer to write an article for you, which you can then turn around and claim authorship of. Be sure you go with a well-known freelance services site if you are going to do that. Check comments and references for the people you are considering hiring for the work to ensure there are no complaints about copyright issues.

2.
If you want to maintain a professional appearance on the Internet then you should do everything you can to brand your website design, written content, and product selection with your own unique style and methods of doing business - being careful to maintain a professional business presence that people are used to seeing and expect.

Solution 1: Let's say that you came across a super great deal where you received 500 pre-designed AdSense ready website templates with a ton of PLR to go with the various niches - all for $100. That's a really awesome deal. And, you can make it work for you! That's the good news. But, again, there is action involved. I recommend you don't just put up the website as it comes straight out of the box. Of course, you will want to make sure you have been given the rights to make changes to the design. Once you have determined that you do indeed have rights to do anything you want to your new websites, you can tweak the design to brand it with your own look and style. Of course, this will require that you have some basic to intermediate skills in website design. These days, with all of the "what you see is what you get" editors out there, you don't need to know a bunch of code.
Solution 2: Once again, if you know absolutely nothing about website design and don't even want to go there, head over to a well-known freelancing services site and hire someone to do the designing for you. You will have to work closely with them to let them know what you want though.
Personally, I just look at learning basic website design and features as part of my "job" and a skill set I must really learn.

Clearly, you can avoid the dangers that can occur when using PLR and "business in a box" products that not just you, but hundreds or thousands of other smart people also bought. The solution boils down to adding your touch, your brand, and your style to everything you do on the Internet. Success never happens to those who believe they can just sit back and put their feet up and never lift a finger to assist the process. And, those that care about what they do and what they offer and work hard for their customers and associates will be rewarded exponentially.
