If you are wondering how to monetize your blog or website, here are a few tips that can help. Most of us are aware of Adsense. This is still considered one of the highest paying means to monetize ones website. But did you know there were other ways to do it that actually pays more?
Consider cbproads.com. They pay a percentage of the sales, not click thrus. In most cases, the money generated is more generous and their rules are more liberal regarding advertising and promotion than Google is.
If you want to stick with them, there are other pay per click services out there. Most do not pay as well as Google but should be considered as alternatives. Among them are Bidvertiser, clickable.com, and Yahoo.
But did you know that there are other ways to monetize your blogs that can be very profitable? One way to do it is through review writing. There are companies and individual site owners that will pay big money to have their sites and products reviewed and published on your blog. The only catch to all of this is it depends on how much traffic your blog receives. The more traffic and the higher the rankings, the more they will pay. Among the sites I have found is SocialSpark.com
Among the more traditional means to generate revenue is selling advertising space or even backlinks on your blog. This can be set up for weekly or monthly subscriptions but again it depends on existing traffic and rankings. The higher both are the higher your prices can be set.
Another point to selling advertising space is that you want to do this in moderation. It will distract your readers or potential readers if your blog is overloaded with ads from other sites.
One very big point to blogging is this: originality is key to the success of any blog. I can't stress that enough. If you are just copying someone else's work and placing it on your blog, it will only benefit them in the long run. Remember that original content is King.
While not an obvious monetizing technique, using the tell a friend script can really help. How?
Link it to your blogs. If your readers like what they read, they may be inclined to send it to others. THe benefit to this technique is more traffic to your site.
If your blogs have a growing readership and mailing list, you can use it to your advantage. You've probably heard the saying, "the money is in the list." That can be true, if properly dealt with. You send them "reocmmendatinos" or "tips" without spamming your list. Even doing this can be dangerous in two respects. You could ruin your reputation by "recommending" too many opoortunities or products, especially if one or two of them fail. Secondly, be sparing in your e-mails. You could lose readers by sending too many messages.
A final note here is to get your readers involved by holding discussions in your blogs. Whatever monetizing technique you decide to use will only benefit from this.
