Rain is some Kiwi farmers salvation...

Light rain is now falling in areas of New Zealand farmland that have experienced some of the worst drought in 30 years, and may prove to be their salvation.

New Zealand has had some shocking winter weather in recent years and Kiwis just relished the awesome summer heat and conditions during the last few months, but obviously at some cost.

Many farmers were already using stockfeed set aside for winter, and were anticipating a real shortage during the summer, but the light rain, which soaks down into the ground rather than heavy rain whichs washes topsoil away from pasture land, appears to be a blessing; they will still be able to grow some late winter feed.
