A lot of people have often asked me how I have so much energy and how I could have the power to persist in the things I do. It's interesting to note that there are a lot of young people who are 10 or 15 years younger but don't seem to have the lasting power. One reason to have the energy & power is of course to have a healthy body. But most young people that I know are healthy physically but they give up when things get a little boring or little bit tough. Somehow they just like to do things which are within their power. In other words, things which are easier. They just don't like to stretch themselves. They find it 'tough', 'hard' etc. It reminds me of a saying that have stucked onto my mind for the past 20 over years. The saying is as follows:-
Which would you like ?
1) To pray for TASK equal to your power ?
OR
2) To pray for POWER equal to your task ?
The 1st option means you ask for an easier task, job etc. The 2nd option means you ask for bigger tasks, higher goals !
Which one will make you grow ? The one with the easier task or the one with the tougher task ?
Take it from me, no one would ever grow to his or her full potential unless he / she constantly go for challenging & bigger tasks.
But the trouble today is people like to take the easier path under the pre-text of "working smart". They go for interviews eager to get a job, but once they got the job, they complain why the boss gives them so much to do. Isn't it an irony ?
In life, if you are too comfortable and have too easy life, it is a sign that you are going down hill. To grow is to climb, to stretch & break your limits, to do what you have never done before ! It may be a bit uncomfortable, you may slip, you may fall, you may fail but that's what growing is all about.
And once you have accomplished this higher task, you will feel a sense of power within you and along with it, the thrill of fulfillment !

Let me leave you with a saying of wisdom by Mencius, the great Chinese Philosopher ..
"..anxiety and distress lead to life and that ease and comfort end in death."
Till then.
May the power be with you.
