Rest In Peace Heath Ledger 23/01/2008 Australians have been described as "a weird mob," largely because of our Aussie slang, our customs (not the government kind) and our laid back lifestyle and most of all, our mateship! Today this "weird mob" is in mourning. One of our mates has died! Heath Ledger from Western Australia died today at the age of 28 years. As Aussies, we were proud of him. We followed his career with interest and with pride. He was always going to become a great actor; after all, as a lad at school he excelled in acting and it was natural that acting would become his career. He left his hometown, Perth, at the age of 16, and moved to Sydney to pursue acting. He landed a role in the Australian Soapy Home And Away plus he acted in a number of TV movie roles and several independent films, in which he distinguished himself. He then moved to Los Angeles where he starred in a number of films including Brokeback Mountain. We join in the grief of his family in Perth and we pray for their consolation at the loss of a very loved son. Vale Heath!
