Retail salespeople on commission What is it about salespeople in retail stores? There are a couple of shops where you just KNOW that the salespeople are on commission. I walked into a computer store the other day, and was accosted by no fewer than three salespeople, in turn, asking if they could help me. It reminded me of that great 'Not The 9 O'Clock News' sketch where the salespeople hunt down a customer in a clothing store, as if it's a spy movie. When they have him cornered, cowering on the ground between the racks of clothes, they simultaneously ask, "Can I help you, sir?" Don't these people know the difference between soft-sell and hard sell? Wait until I show interest in a product, then try to establish a relationship.
