In my humble opinion and simplistic mindset, a pastor is comparable to a shepherd. How so, you ask? A shepherd watches over, guards, protects and takes care of his/her flock of sheep. A true pastor of a church does the same for his congregation --- he/she watches over, guards, protects and takes care of them. As I see it, Reverend Wright does not exemplify the definition of a true pastor because he has waged attack after attack to vehemently destroy unto death one of his "sheep" --- Senator Barak Obama. I grew up believing that those who chose to be pastors, rabbis, priests, etc. were "ambassadors" of God's. These were the men and women who I esteemed highly and looked to as role models and mentors. I presumed that these spiritual leaders lived their lives according to what they taught from the pulpit and the scriptures they proclaimed to believe in.
My Bible tells me that God is Love, and we are to love one another as God loves us. I believe this would especially apply to spiritual leaders since there is a passage in the Bible that says, "Judgement begins at the House of the Lord." If pastors are responsible for leading, mentoring and teaching their congregations in the things of God, as well as setting the example of how God expects us to live, then why isn't Reverend Wright conducting himself like the God he claims to represent? Consider this. First Corinthians 13:4-7 defines LOVE. The Message version of the Bible tells readers that…
Love never gives up.
*Love cares more for others than for self.
*Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
*Love doesn't strut,
*Doesn't have a swelled head,
*Doesn't force itself on others,
*Isn't always me first,
*Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
*Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
*Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Is Reverend Wright walking in the biblical definition of LOVE as he lusts for publicity, covets public attention and thrives from performing his outrageous media spectacles?
It would behoove Reverend Wright to re-read and meditate on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, then judge whether he's walking according to what the Bible teaches. The verses with the asteriks would be especially beneficial for Reverend Wright to review and meditate on.
In one of Reverend Wright's recent infamous speeches, he said that after all is said and done, and the election votes have been counted, Reverend Wright will still be a pastor. Is Reverend Wright really a true pastor, now? I think not, so how can he audaciously proclaim that he will be a pastor after the election when he doesn't have the heart of one, now? Just a thought.
