We have rotating work parties with 2 other couples that own their homes. This is an amazing way to get lots done. I highly recommend it for you personal morale and your relationship. I have found it so healing because you get back the same energy and you put forth from the same people!!!!! Wow—that has been great for me. I feel like I am paying myself by helping my friends. We have been doing this since Oct or Nov of 07and we have got so much done for each other. We rotate from house to house – bring the tools that are needed for the days projects. The household who’s turn it is calls ahead to say what the project is and what to food bring. Usually the people who are having the work day at their house will make the main dish and the others bring salad and desert. This way you work really heard and you eat a wonderful feast. We have done 2 rotations so far and this is what we have accomplished:
T&S -- moved and went through all the tile in front of studio --- cleaned out all the blackberries --- cut and moved more than 3/4 of the dragon wood pile (which was 20’ long and 6’ high)!! --made fire pile.
T&R -- worked on green house / finished -- cleaned out carport and tool area -- put plastic up around the carport open areas--
Made new garden tool area -- cut up yuk wood for stove -- cleaned out stuff in "out door office space"
R&G -- moved wood from R's parents and organized kindling.
Round 2
T&S -- finished dragon wood pile/cut & stack -- made gravel paths -- raked leaves -- -- planted small bamboo. Cleaned out around kiva and dug out old corn -- Cleaned and trimmed the top of the earthen roof
R&G -- took everything out of garage / reorganized-- chopped and moved wood -- moved a truck load of kindling -- moved cabinet into house rewired and moved stereo -- fixed kitchen sink.
T&R -- finish and built clear overhang for outside patio aprox. 11x13---removed moss on roof -- cleaned 4x4's of old concrete---put all wood back and stones back in patio.
Not bad for six work days-------try it out!!!!
