Selling your time or a product?

Are you selling your time or selling
a product?

This might not seem like a big difference
but it's actually the most critical
distinction between a business that
makes money and business that makes a
killing.

And the reason for this comes down to
one important word: Leverage.

Let me explain what I mean when I talk
about selling your time. Because it's true
that selling your time can certainly be
quite profitable... after all, Lawyers and
Accountants sell their time each and every
day.

And we both know that Lawyers aren't
driving Mercedes and BMW 7 series because
there's no money in selling your time.

But Lawyers also have a high rate of
burnout and a low level of job satisfaction.

And no matter how smart a lawyer is;
there's only so many hours in a day he can
possibly bill out to a client. He has to
sleep and eat some time.

Instead, think about the Top 400 list Forbes
publishes each year highlighting the world's
wealthiest people. Notice how all of these
top wealth generators sell something other
than their time?

These top tier folks are all using the magic
of leverage to generate wealth levels that
"workers" will never be capable of doing
all by selling their time... it's just not
possible.

So when you look at any business, the first
thing you should determine is if you're
selling your time (bad) or selling a product
(good) that you can leverage into a larger
success than what you accomplish individually
without working 20-hours a day.

See the difference?

Regards
