The popularity of pirate style costumes has grown more than any other costume theme in recent years. I would suggest that that is largely due to the successful movies “Pirates of the Caribbean” staring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Quite interestingly, he claimed to have based his depiction of a pirate on Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and even managed to persuade the multi millionaire guitarist rock star to take a small role in one of the later films as his father. It has been suggested that Mr Richards didn’t need much help with his pirate outfit or his make up as he has always dressed and looked and in some ways behaved like a pirate!
