Sharia Law in a democratic country.

Here in the UK we like to think of ourselves as a tolerant nation that welcomes multiculturalism and respects the beliefs of others.

The call by the Archbishop of Canterbury for aspects of Sharia law to be incorporated into UK law is absolutely abominable.

Sharia law is barbaric and belongs more to the Middle ages than todays modern society, as I am sure that the majority of British Muslims would agree.

Sharia law has been used to justify the repression of women, beheadings, stoning and many other brutal punishments, even putting people to death for converting to other religions in extreme cases.

The vast majority of people in this country are not Muslim and the rules and laws of the majority should be the norm in a democracy such as ours, British citizens should be subject to British Laws.

Appeasement by the church is only likely to increase the decline of its followers and further distance the population from Christian values.

If this proposal was ever likely to be adopted then I am sure the British public would rise up and revolt.
