Sioux Falls Rescue Events Sioux Falls is a whirl wind of pet & rescue events this weekend! Take your mom to lunch, and then do something good for the community together, visit a rescue or shelter event and offer your support! Saturday 05/10/08 Pit Rescue of the Great Plains will be hosting an adoption event at the S. Louise Ave. Pet Smart. From 12:00 to 5:00 volunteers will be on site to answer your questions about adoption, breed needs, and good ownership. They will also have free materials courtesy of Animal Farm Foundation on the needs and image of the American Pit Bull Terrier. The two dogs they have available for adoption Lady & Kia will also be there for you to meet and spend time with. Not able to adopt? Make a donation to the care of these beautiful girls! PRGP is also interviewing for more qualified foster homes. There are many APBT's in the Sioux Falls area that could use a loving home to stay at until that perfect forever home is found. If you are interested in fostering, visit with PRGP staff at PetSmart! Double HP - Horse Help Providers Inc. - South Dakota's first and only rescue dedicated to abused and neglected horses. This Friday and Saturday they are holding a fundraising rummage sale. The rummage is located at 2517 S Main in Sioux Falls from 8am - 5pm both days. Visit their 2008 Rummage Sale link to see a listing of some of the donated items for sale, including lots of horse tack, and many new unused items! Many of us in the Midwest may not be owners, farmers or ranchers, but we are often lovers of these beautiful animals. SF Area Humane Society has volunteer and grooming orientation this Saturday. Want to learn more about how to groom your own pets? Sunday 05/11/08 Happy Mother's Day! Second Chance Rescue Center celebrates moms of all kinds, including moms of four legged children! The Storm Strut will take place at Sioux Falls Lyons Park. Registration begins at 1pm, and you and your fur children can join the parade through downtown. Donation to enter this event is $10 per pet. Moms with their human children along can also enter for a spa gift package. Have a great weekend with all your family, great and small!
